Proposal Exponent is led by Glen T. Shen, an MIT-trained scientist and engineer (BS 1979; PhD 1986) and former professor. With over 25 years in academic, government, industry, and not-for-profit job sectors, Glen has written, peer-reviewed, and panel-scored proposals in various fields as a principal investigator and senior administrator. As a result, he understands the system and factors that separate success from rejection. 

 

When you engage Proposal Exponent, you will receive Glen’s personalized services. Depending on the needs of your organization, Glen is able to call upon trusted individuals he has managed in the past to help with tasks including research, formatting, and submittal. We do not sell DVD’s, proposal templates, or other online packaged products. 

 

Glen has experienced an unusually rich and international career landscape as a chemical engineer, professor of geoscience/oceanography, agricultural chemist, biotechnology startup VP, and senior executive for the US Air Force Research Laboratory, the NSF Center on Materials and Devices for IT Research, and the Mote Marine Laboratory. As a University of Washington faculty member, Glen’s proposal success rate for first-time submittals to federal sponsors was 85%. He is an exceptional teacher and mentor. You will find him quick to understand your needs and easy to work with.
